World Forestry Congress 2015

The Durban Exhibition Center played host to the XIV Annual World Forestry Congress
for 2015

With an array of international delegate present, the chosen theme for the opening event was sourced from the heart of our uniquely African style. A rustic and raw Shebeen themed event was set to welcome the guests in true South African style, showing off our unique culture.

2500 guests were set to arrive at the Durban Exhibition Center on Sunday the 6th September for an welcome event second to none, and after much deliberation, the event was moved indoors due to Durban's inconsistent weather patterns of late......a wise choice!!

With an event of this scale, a need for out the box and fresh décor items was clearly evident and so, one week before setup, manufacture began on numerous items. Functions for Africa has been known to manufacture and create unique décor elements whenever the need arises, and this was no different. 20 rural shebeen kiosks were set into manufacture and with the help of our ever hands on staff, the result was amazing!

With the kiosks bringing in an African flair to the serving stations, a few more creative elements were needed, so off to the printers we went!!

Custom paper table cloths, custom branding elements and Ndebele print artwork was brought in and enhanced the existing décor and furniture further. An array of greenery and plants was brought in, along with a selection of traditional African décor elements. Seating areas ranged from cocktail to lounge, as well as some more interesting seating in the form of low tables and beer crate seats.

With all setup, the event was set to be a resounding success and the venue looked amazing.

Functions for Africa would like to thank Makulu Event Producers for bringing us in as part of the team and allowing us to create something new, and have such fun doing it!!!
